The 2014 Quintus is very youthful on the nose, with vibrant, almost Médoc-like scents of brambly red berry fruit, cedar, smoke and just a touch of pencil shavings. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant, fine tannins, again, very Left Bank in style with a gentle grip on the finish. This could actually benefit from a few more months in bottle. It's quite bold in style, but it pulls it off (just). Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

The 2014 Quintus is medium to deep garnet-brick in color. The nose is slightly tired to start off, soon morphing into notes of rosebud tea, potpourri, and cherry cola with hints of leather and damp soil. The medium-bodied palate has a lovely cherry lift, with savory nuances and a chewy finish.

Bordeaux

Red Bordeaux, globally renowned, is crafted in France’s Bordeaux region from grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. These full-bodied wines feature dark fruit flavours, earthy and spicy notes, and often benefit from ageing. Top producers include Château Margaux, Château Latour, and Château Lafite Rothschild. White Bordeaux, made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, offers styles from crisp to rich, with citrus and tropical notes. Sweet Bordeaux wines, like Sauternes, are famed for their rich sweetness and flavours of apricot and honey, with Château d’Yquem as a leading producer.
